Officers

The Exchange Club of Bellevue is under the current leadership of the following individuals who graciously volunteer their time and talents to make our community a great place to live. We also recognize our organizations' past presidents who were instrumental in supporting a myriad of community projects and contributing to many organizations.

 

The Exchange Club of Bellevue's 2009-2010 Officers:

 

President: Chuck Naab

Chuck Naab joined The Exchange Club of Bellevue in 2007. An Indiana native, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University. Chuck is Business Development Manager for Orange Commercial Credit of Anaheim, California. He also serves in a number of business and civic organizations and is an active member of Grace Community Church.

Treasurer: Charlie Tygard

Charlie Tygard is a Nashville native who has made a difference in the lives of others both as an elected public servant, the Executive Director of a local youth non-profit organization and as a successful businessman. Charles R. Tygard, Jr was born January 6, 1951, in Nashville, to the parents of Charles and Martha Tygard. A graduate of Parmer Elementary School and Montgomery Bell Academy in 1969, Charlie was captain of the basketball team and an active member of the newspaper and yearbook staffs. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1966. Charlie earned a B.A. degree in Business Administration and Economics from Vanderbilt University in 1973, and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Aftter being honored as outstanding pledge class member, Charlie was elected twice as Table Manager of the fraternity. He is married to the former Judy Brooks of Nashville (Overton High School) and they have two children, Jill and Jennifer. Jill and Glenn Mertes have two children, Megan (3 and a half years old) and Matthew (1 and a half years old). Jenny is a teacher in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School system. The Tygards attend the Bellevue Presbyterian Church. In 1973, Charlie began his business career with the Burroughs Corporation in computer sales and programming. Charlie advanced with Burroughs to the position of Zone Sales Manager, overseeing a staff of 4 sales people. Faced with a career promotion and re-location, Charlie first purchased and managed a local manufacturing company (Nationwide Stone Company) before founding Logic Technologies, a computer sales, service and programming company. In 1987, Charlie and Judy formed Accurate Tax and Bookkeeping Services, an accounting and tax preparation company. In 1989, Charlie was elected to the 7th Metro Nashville City Council representing the citizens of Bellevue, District 35, filling an unexpired term. He was re-elected to the 8th Metro Council in 1991 with 89% of the popular vote. From 1989 to 1995, Charlie emerged as one of the Council leaders, serving as Chair of the Council Committee on parks and Recreation and being elected as the Council’s representative to the Metro Traffic and Parking Commission. In 1993, Charlie authored and sponsored legislation creating the Davidson County Greenways Commission. As a result of this legislation, Nashville began and continues today with an aggressive program to built walkways and nature trails throughout the city. In 2002, Charlie was elected to the 10th Metro City Council (unexpired term) to the 11th Metro Council in 2003, continuing his commitment of public service. Charlie serves on the powerful Council Budget and Finance Committee, championing lower property taxes for seniors while promoting government efficiency. He serves as Chair of the Council Tourism and Convention Committee (promoting a family-oriented theme park). He has sponsored legislation promoting Historical Preservation (creation of the Nashville Historical Preservation Trust Fund), promoting low and fair water rates (preserving the sprinkler adjustment for gardeners and irrigation system users), and honoring our Veterans (renaming of the Korean War Veterans Bridge). Councilman Tygard serves on the board of the Bellevue YMCA/J. L. Turner Lifelong Learning Center for Senior Citizens Inc. (which has grown into the largest SCI branch in less than 1 year) and the Bellevue Exchange Club (promotes the prevention of child abuse and recreation for Bellevue’s youth). Charlie is also active with the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce (honored as Bellevue’s Citizen of the Year and is a past-president) and the local PAD organization (Public Access Defibrillator – placement of AED’s in local schools and public buildings).

 

Secretary:

Michael Lynn  - is publisher of Middle Tennessee NOW, a community bi-weekly publication that covers Davidson, Williamson and Hickman counties. He and his wife, Mihaela, they have a 9 month old son, Ben. Michael is actively involved in the community with several non-profits. He is a retired State-level Referee for U.S. Soccer and spent 6 years as a Junior Olympic volleyball coach.

 

 

Social Chairperson: Christine Ragan

Christine Ragan joined the Exchange Club in the Fall 2009 and is a board member of the Exchange Club Family Centers. Born in Fort Campbell , Kentucky, she grew up in Ashland City , Tennessee and attended St. Pius X Elementary School and St. Cecilia Academy in Nashville . A graduate of the University of Tennessee-Knoxville with a bachelor degree in Economics, she also attended School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University-Bloomington obtaining a Masters of Public Affairs - Public Finance. Currently she is the Chief Financial Officer for the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department overseeing finance, human resources and fleet operations and recently completed the School of Management in Policing through the Police Executive Research Forum. As an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, she also serves as a Eucharistic Minister and is the Parish Council Finance Chair.
